Online poker players are making their voices heard over 160 of them to be more exact.  Players from across the nation have posted comments that urge the Republican Party to protect our freedom so that individuals will be able to play poker online.

Members of the Poker Players Alliance believe that any language in the Republican Platform that restricts an individual's right to play poker online is a violation of individual freedom and personal responsibility.  The Republican Platform Committee's website is open to the public and you can make comments on what you think should and shouldn't be included in the 2008 GOP Platform.

So players from all over the nation have posted their comments all unanimously urging the Republican Party to protect their rights to play poker online.  At this time there have been no calls by the public to include language banning the game.

"My point is simple. Is the Republican Party no longer the party of personal freedom and individual responsibility? Why has this party, that used to protect my rights, now become the party that wants to create a Nanny-state? Stay away from issues of personal liberty, except to remove old laws that restrict these liberties," commented professional poker player and 2004 World Series of Poker champion Greg Raymer.

His comments are just one out of approximately 160 such posts that were made on the The Republican Platform Committee's website.  The ultimate goal is to make it legal for US citizens to be able to play poker online without any worries.  This is yet another step that players are making in direction of that goal.

The Poker Players Alliance is also encouraging online poker players to register to vote so that we can become a strong voice and get heard by the nations politicians.  On the PPA's site there are videos of professional poker players that are urging players to vote because if you want online poker you have to do your part to help make it legal.

Here is another post from another poker player,  "As a lifelong republican I believe in personal responsibility. Choosing to gamble on the internet should be a personal choice not a decision the government makes for us. In 2004 the party platform took the position that government should ban internet gambling. I enjoy playing poker on the internet and if the party platform were to advocate banning internet gambling this election season I would seriously consider voting for Obama." - Gerald, Jacksonville, FL

So if you want to add your thoughts and opinions on the legality of playing poker online you can go the Republic Platform and post your comments on the subject.  After all so far there are around 160 posts and if all of the nations poker players were to put their two cents in soon there would be too many posts for the government to ignore.
